Laminate + Melamine
Our Kai Collection of laminate casegoods are finished in a flame resistant melamine. Laminate is more resistant to scratches, stains, and damage than other materials such as veneer, but it is susceptible to water damage. To maintain the integrity of the finish, it is important to follow these do’s and don’ts.
Do:
- Dust regularly
- Use a cloth dipped in water and gently wrung out before wiping the surface
- Wipe up spills quickly
- Use a soft toothbrush for hard to reach areas
- Pat dry any wet areas, do not scrub
- Apply baking soda in a thick paste, leave to set for a few minutes, then wipe away to remove stains
- Use a diluted vinegar solution or mild soaps
Don’t:
- Use furniture polish
- Soak the surface or leave liquid on it (including condensation from cups or bowls)
- Scrub
- Use bristle brushes
- Expose to high temperatures (yes, even a hot coffee mug can cause damage)
Metal Bases - iRize, Connect, and Fusion
Our iRize Height Adjustable Bases, Fusion Metal Base System, and Connect Training Table Bases are made of steel which is the gold standard for durability. But even the most durable products need maintained.
Do:
- Make sure there are no obstacles in the desk's path
- Dust regularly
- Unplug before cleaning
- Use a damp dish cloth to wipe the base, careful of the internal electrical parts
- Check for loose areas and tighten them
- Check the electrical cord for damage and replace immediately if you find any
Don’t:
- Place the desk too close to the wall to avoid scrapes or scratches
- Interrupt the desk while it is in motion
- Expose the motor to moisture or water
- Leave drinks on the tabletop while the desk is in motion
- Allow the base to overheat
- Use abrasive or corrosive materials for cleaning
Seat Cusions (Polyester)
It is easy to forget to clean a seat cushion you sit on every day, but to keep it from looking dull and worn, it is important to maintain. This applies to our Switch Nesting Chairs, Gravity Task Chairs, and Nova Task Chair.
Do:
- Clean at least once a month
- Vacuum regularly
- Spot clean stains with a mild detergent
- If wet, pat with dry towels and allow to air dry
- Remove water based stains stains immediately with mild detergents and sponges or soft cloths
- Oil-based stains require cleaning with a damp cloth or sponge
- Limit direct sunlight
Don’t:
- Use bleach
- Use solvents or abrasive kitchen cleaners
- Soak the seat
- Scrub
- Use high heat
- Brush fabric or attach rotary brush when vacuuming.
- Dry stains completely, this will cause them to set
Mesh Backed Chairs
Cleaning mesh may seem daunting. If you do this wrong, it could lead to pilling or even holes. By regularly cleaning your Gravity Task Chair, Gravity Conference chair Mesh, Nova, or Switch you can keep it like new even after heavy use. Here are some do’s and don’ts to keep your chair happy.
Do:
- Routinely vacuum your chair every 1-2 weeks because dust can build up quickly
- Vacuum your chair back with a non-brush attachment
- Use warm soap and a slightly damp microfiber cloth to remove excess dirt and stains
- For set in stains, dab them with a non-bleach spot cleaning
- Allow to air dry after cleaning
- Avoid direct sunlight
Don’t:
- Eat in your chair
- Use bleach
- Use solvents or abrasive kitchen cleaners
- Scrub
- Brush fabric or attach rotary brush when vacuuming.
- Dry stains completely, this will cause them to set
PU Leather
PU Leather is used in our Gravity Conference Leather chairs and is completely artificial and does not harm any animals in the creation of the material takes few resources so it is considered sustainable. This material doesn’t absorb as much water as genuine leather so it is easier to clean, but it still need maintained to look it’s best.
Do:
- Clean at least once a month
- Must be dusted regularly with a dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth
- Use a PU protector once every 3 to 6 months for best results
- Use mild soap and warm water
- Allow to air dry after cleaning
- Use baking soda on set in stains
Don’t:
- Use wax
- Use oil
- Use standard leather care products
- Scrub
- Soak in water
- Use Hot Water
- Hig Heat
